When Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent wanted to end their career, they did not wanted to do it in a sterile way. Therefore, they created from 2002 on the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent foundation even though it only opened in March 2004. The foundation presents two temporary collections a year which allow to protect the objects all the while presenting a maximum of the 5000 haute-couture clothes and of the 15 000 accessories, drawings, and divers objects that show the Yves Saint Laurent creation over forty years. However, in order not to be locked up in Yves Saint Laurent work, who also was a great art lover and collectioner, the house also accommodates painting, photography, or drawing exhibitions all the while supporting educational actions for young people.
